Position Overview
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement of seed and related products from production and processing locations through to Maizex distribution partners across Canada.
This position plays an important role in ensuring that products are available where and when they are needed. The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with internal teams, third-party logistics providers, seed production and processing facilities, and distribution partners to coordinate transportation, shipments, deliveries, and related documentation.
The successful candidate will be a highly organized and proactive individual who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and respond quickly to changing logistics requirements during the seasonal demands of the seed business.
Coordinate the transportation and movement of seed products between Maizex production, processing, storage, and distributor locations.
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, third-party logistics providers, warehouses, toll processors, dealers, and customers.
Schedule deliveries and pickups while ensuring transportation requirements are aligned with customer and operational needs.
Monitor shipments and proactively address delays, transportation issues, or changes to delivery requirements.
Obtain and review transportation quotes where required and support cost-effective freight decisions.
Maintain strong working relationships with carriers and logistics service providers.
Coordinate special or urgent shipments when required.
Assist with inventory transfers and related transactions within the Maizex ERP system.
Support reconciliation of shipping and inventory records and investigate discrepancies as required.
Work closely with the Sales and Customer Service teams to support dealer and customer delivery requirements.
Provide shipment status updates and communicate changes or delays in a timely manner.
Support supply management initiatives of the organization for timely alignment of customer orders with physical inventory.
Assist in customer order entry and annual final reconciliation process.
Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, inventory management, or a related role.
Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, or inventory-based businesses is an asset.
Experience coordinating transportation with third-party carriers and logistics providers.
Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Bilingual English/French communication skills would be considered an asset.
Working conditions
Working conditions consisting primarily of an office environment, although limited time spent in production facility or lab may be required.
