Senior Legal Counsel – Joint-Ventures & Commercial Affairs

A strategic legal role at the national level

The Legal Affairs team at Sollio delivers a broad spectrum of legal services to its BMR, Olymel and Sollio Agriculture divisions, as well as to the parent company, its subsidiaries and joint ventures. We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to assume a lead role in the legal oversight of Sollio’s activities and its joint ventures located outside Quebec, primarily in Ontario and other common law jurisdictions. This position is designed for a seasoned in‑house legal professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound business judgment and strategic insight.
Your impact :
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will serve as a strategic legal advisor and trusted partner to the business, collaborating closely with senior leaders on high‑value, multi‑jurisdictional matters and contributing directly to Sollio’s long‑term growth and strategic direction.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic legal leadership to safeguard Sollio’s interests across its operations outside Québec, including oversight of commercial and franchised arrangements, corporate governance matters, shareholding changes, and key strategic initiatives;
Advising internal stakeholders on litigation, corporate, commercial and contractual matters, delivering pragmatic, business‑oriented and risk‑based guidance;
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements and joint venture arrangements, including shareholders’ agreements, strategic alliances and long‑term supply contracts;
Identifying, assessing and mitigating legal and operational risks, while enabling and supporting the achievement of business objectives;
Communicating clear, concise and actionable legal advice to senior management to support informed decision‑making.
What we’re looking for:
Member in good standing of a Canadian law society in a common law jurisdiction (Ontario preferred);
10 years of progressive experience in corporate and commercial law, gained in private practice and/or in‑house;
Demonstrated experience with joint ventures, complex commercial relationships or multi‑provincial operations;
Strong contract drafting and negotiation capabilities, with a business‑oriented mindset;
Ability to work independently, manage priorities and influence decision‑making at a senior level;
High standards of professionalism, integrity and judgment;
Professional proficiency in both English and French would be considered an asset.
